Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced Python Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical applications on the Quartz platform. You will build automation frameworks, APIs, data-processing solutions, and scheduled workflows that support trading, risk, operations, reporting, and analytics.

You will collaborate with business users, architects, and peers to deliver scalable, resilient solutions while contributing to modernization and cloud-native initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python development.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications on Quartz or similar distributed computing platforms (Athena or SecDB).
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering principles.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained.
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on CI/CD practices and automating tool stack.
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Automates manual release activities.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
  • Design, develop, test, and support Python applications running on the Quartz platform.

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Position Summary

The role involves developing Python-based applications, automation frameworks, APIs, data-processing solutions, and scheduled workflows that support trading, risk, operations, reporting, and analytics functions. The successful candidate will partner closely with business users, architects, operations teams, and fellow developers to deliver scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions while contributing to platform modernization initiatives and cloud-native adoption efforts.
