Peregrine Advisors is seeking a highly motivated software professional to build cloud-native, event-driven, serverless workflows on AWS. You will own development from refinement to production, integrating COTS products with internal frameworks and connecting APIs to support modern system architectures.
The role emphasizes building automated data pipelines, transitioning manual processes to automatic ones, and delivering working code you own through production.
Peregrine Advisors is a firm founded on a simple conviction: the best solutions come from the people closest to the problem, given real ownership and the tools to deliver. We are a data and technology innovation hub and a Benefit Corporation working at the center of the federal government's mission to deliver for client stakeholders and the US public, looking for highly motivated contributors who thrive when trusted to own a hard problem and equipped to deliver the solution.
Your first assignment will likely include carrying user stories from refinement through to production by:
Adaptability and a demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts, systems, and tools is what keeps you ahead of program needs as projects complete and priorities shift.
The work is real, hard, and it matters. It is also where you start, not the shape of your career here: we hire people, not seats, and we move our best to where the hardest problems are.
Modern, cloud-native systems that provide exceptional business value through streamlined, automated operation.
Working, tested code that you own through to production, including the defects you find and fix along the way.
The automation that replaces manual process: the checks, the validations, and the workflows that used to be somebody's spreadsheet.
Deployments that are routine: services released through pipelines rather than through events.
AI-assisted development as standard practice: tools like Amazon Q Developer, across the whole lifecycle.
In time, the firm itself: new capabilities, tools, and lines of business you help spin up.
You take what you build personally, and you measure it by whether it works for the people who depend on it. When priorities shift, you shift with them, and you treat every new tool and domain as a chance to get better at the craft. You communicate clearly, adapt across roles and clients, and care about creating public value. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.
A working command of modern cloud development, and the range to move between building something new and making something existing work better.
The delivery habits that go with it: version control, unit and integration testing, code review, secure coding, and accessibility.
The communication to explain your work in plain language to the people who depend on it, and to hear what they need back.
The precision to work where accuracy and auditability are not optional.
U.S. citizenship (this initial engagement may be staffed by U.S. citizens only) and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and it requires commuting into DC regularly.
As a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better.
