Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking a Software Engineer with strong Python, containerization, and database experience to design, implement, and maintain backend services and deployment workflows.

You will mentor team members, collaborate with product and operations in an Agile environment, and use GitLab for version control and CI/CD. Position based in Aurora, CO with Top Secret/SCI eligibility requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science with 5+ years of software development experience (Level 3) or 2+ years (Level 2) with Master’s; or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python production experience; Docker-based development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in Linux environments and modern software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and maintenance of backend services.
• Architect and maintain Docker-based development and runtime environments.
• Guide deployments using Docker Swarm and related tooling.
• Promote engineering best practices and participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable features.
• Mentor junior engineers and communicate with stakeholders.
• Use Jira for backlog management and Confluence for documentation.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and integration with GitLab.
