Job summary

Aramark Correctional Services is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to guide warehouse operations, oversee receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, and ensure secure, accurate handling of goods in Washington, DC.

You will coordinate workload, manage inventory levels, review deliveries, and drive improvements to efficiency and safety while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a shipping/receiving supervisor role.
• Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying work demands.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and assignment of work for efficient use of personnel and equipment.
• Maintain inventory and set levels based on usage and demand.
• Receive shipments and enter data into tracking system.
• Inspect deliveries for accuracy and quality; reject if needed.
• Supervise warehouse operations to ensure security and upkeep.

Job Description

The Purchasing Supervisor guides and controls warehouse activities to ensure accurate storing and distributing of raw materials and finished goods. Supervises timely delivery of merchandise in the amount ordered, while maintaining the security of the warehouse. Provides a safe working environment through compliance of safety programs.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $28.00 to $32.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinates the planning and assignment of work, achieving the most efficient use of personnel and equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining inventory and in helping establish inventory levels based on prior usage and future demand.
• Receives incoming shipments and packages from a variety of carriers and enters information into tracking system for disbursement.
• Inspects incoming deliveries for accuracy and quality based off of the product order and reject any undesirable items.
• Supervises the warehouse, and the inventory held within at all times to ensure security and upkeep.
• Assists in ordering from site vendors by advising the management team what is needed, and sometimes contacting the vendor directly.
• Develops and recommends improvements in current warehouse practices to promote efficiency, faster service, and lower costs.
• Provides for training of warehouse employees and may assist with selection of such employees.
• Uncrates shipments when required and properly disposes of, or stores, containers and packaging as appropriate

Qualifications

• Requires at least 3-5 years of experience in a shipping/receiving supervisor role
• Requires basic mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record
• Must have excellent communications skills both verbal and written
• Must be flexible and able to adjust to variable work demands

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking & standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
