Job summary

Block Iron & Supply Company in Oshkosh, WI is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement team. The role focuses ~80% on purchasing execution and ~20% on management and strategy, leveraging strong negotiation and vendor relationship skills.

You will work to optimize freight terms and rebates, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely procurement while learning our product lines and vendor systems in the doors and hardware industry.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in procurement or supply chain preferred.
• 2+ years in a management or leadership role preferred.
• Proven experience negotiating vendor terms, rebates, freight and incentive programs.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated, quick to learn new systems and product categories.
• Experience working with vendors and building long-term relationships.
• Familiarity with vendor portals and ERP/purchasing software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal departments (operations, finance, sales) to forecast purchasing needs and resolve any supply chain challenges.
• Create, implement, and improve purchasing processes, tracing KPIs for departmental performance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This role is approximately 20% management and strategy, 80% purchasing execution, requiring someone with strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams, working with vendors, negotiating freight, rebate and buy programs and is eager to learn our product lines and vendor systems – even if they're new to the doors and hardware industry.
