Job summary

JBS Foods in Plainwell, MI is seeking a Purchasing Assistant for the 2nd shift to support the purchasing team. Primary duties include offloading trailers, placing items into stock, and assisting supervisors to ensure timely supplies for the next day’s operations.

You will handle packaging and MRO inventory, process paperwork, maintain area housekeeping, and become cross-trained across purchasing functions, from box shop to stockroom, to help keep our plant running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

Description

The primary responsibilities ofthe Purchasing Assistantare offloading trailers. Each trailer has critical supplies we need to get in the plant for the next day’s plant operations, and assisting purchasing supervisors and manager with their duties.

Responsibilities

Responsible for offloading and putting away Packaging, MRO parts inventory. Processing parts issue slips, and offload list paperwork. Generalhousekeeping of Box Shop, shipping docks and elevator areas, material identification,packing slips relative documentation for receiving. All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Plainwell is the only JBS plant with Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP), a packaging process that changes oxygen levels to extend shelf-life. The MAP process is a part of the Plainwell ground beef operation. Plainwell is also one of the few plants that produces ground beef patties. Over one million lbs (450,000 kg) of beef are produced each day. The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant. The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with ISO 14001. Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.
