Job summary

Lennar is hiring a Purchasing Estimator to handle all aspects of material take-offs, starting with framing, and to assist in reviewing and eliminating material EPO requests. The role requires two years in residential construction and strong Excel/JD Edwards/Build Pro skills.

The Estimator will analyze plans for cost implications, verify take-off changes with Purchasing and Operations, and ensure alignment with scopes of work, driving cost efficiency and timely project completion.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • Strong cost analysis and attention to detail.

  • Create material take-offs for existing, new, and revised plans, starting with framing.
  • Maintain take-offs for active plans and verify change requests with Purchasing and Operations.
  • Interact with architects/engineers on plan changes impacting take-offs.
  • Analyze plans for cost analysis and research proposed design costs.
  • Review material EPO requests to align with take-offs and scopes of work.

The Purchasing Estimator is responsible for all aspects of take-offs, including verification of take-off change requests. The Estimator is also responsible to assist in the review, verification, and elimination of material EPO requests. The Estimator should perform cost analysis recommendations on proposed plan changes. Your Responsibilities on the Team
  • Create material take-offs for all existing, new, and revised plans. Initial need is for framing category.
  • Maintain the take-offs of all active plans.
  • Interact with Purchasing and Operations departments to verify take-off change requests.
  • Interact with architect/engineering consultants regarding plan changes impacting take-offs.
  • Analyze plans for cost analysis recommendations and research cost of proposed design ideas.
  • Assist in the review of material EPO requests to ensure in accordance with take-offs and scopes of work, and eliminate the need for material EPO’s.
  • Complete take-offs as needed due to special projects and specification changes.
  • Field verification of actual quantities vs. quantity take offs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Your Toolbox
  • Two (2) years of residential construction/architecture experience required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
  • Full understanding of residential construction, architectural, structural, & MEP design required
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially in the use of Excel spreadsheets and formulas for financial modeling; must have the ability to work with JD Edwards, Build Pro, and other proprietary software
  • Professionally perform multiple, detailed-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Good writing and organization skills
  • Possess strong work ethic, integrity and loyalty
  • Team player with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Must have initiative and be able to achieve objectives with minimal supervision
  • Must be detail oriented and a problem solver able to deal with complex situations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Interact well with co-workers
  • Understand and follow work rules and procedures
  • Accept constructive feedback
Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements

Regular, in-person attendance at Company communities/job sites and offices during regular work hours is an essential function of this job. Requires the ability to work more than eight hours per day in the confined quarters of a construction trailer, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, read plans, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and/or carry equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds. Job may require occasional operation of construction equipment. Finger dexterity may be required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
