Job summary

The Mississippi Library Commission is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage procurement activities in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will create and enter purchasing documents into MAGIC and source equipment, supplies, and services via quotes, contracts, and bids.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of experience, familiarity with SRM, ECC, and MAGIC, and strong Excel/Word/Teams skills.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience.
• Hiring agency prefers:Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience.
• Preferred candidate will be a Certified Mississippi Purchasing Agent with SRM/ECC/MAGIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of procurement for the agency in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Create and enter purchasing documents (contract requests, contracts, purchase requests, purchase orders, goods receipts) into MAGIC.
• Source equipment, supplies, and services using RFQs, state contracts, and formal bid procedures.

This position will be responsible for all phases of the procurement function for the Mississippi Library Commission in accordance with state and federal regulations. This includes creation and entry of purchasing documents (contract requests, contracts, purchase requests, purchase orders, and goods receipts) into the State of Mississippi accounting system (MAGIC) and sourcing equipment, supplies, and services utilizing requests for quotes, state contracts, and/or formal bid procedures.

What you'll need to be Successful

Applicant should be self-directed and have the ability to work with other people, a strong attention to detail, and advanced analytical skills, including ability to work in Microsoft Excel and Word and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications
