Job summary

Lhoist North America in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a Purchasing Agent/Buyer to drive the daily purchase order process, negotiate direct and indirect materials, and coordinate with AP to ensure timely payments. This role requires SAP MM/SRM proficiency, strong supplier relations, and a solid understanding of procurement principles.

You will work across receiving and finance, maintain vendor records, and contribute to cost savings and program compliance.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of purchasing experience.
• Experience with SAP MM/SRM and supplier negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase orders diligently, with follow-up on expedited orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers to purchase direct and indirect materials and services.
• Work closely with receiving and finance to expedite invoice payment
• Manage day-to-day supplier interactions (ordering, delivery times, Invoice payment, and purchase order closing)
• Feed supplier performance data to performance management
• Maintain vendor records, i.e.; quotes, savings, and contract administration.
• Promote purchasing processes and programs with end users and drive compliance.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Purchasing Agent/Buyer position is responsible for the everyday processing of purchase orders in accordance to the purchasing policies for the respected plants. In this role, the Purchasing Agent/Buyer will work indirectly with AP to insure invoices are processed and paid according to LNA terms. The Purchasing Agent/Buyer will also source and negotiate materials and services as required.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Process purchase orders diligently, with follow-up on expedited orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers to purchase direct and indirect materials and services.
• Work closely with receiving and finance to expedite invoice payment
• Manage day-to-day supplier interactions (ordering, delivery times, Invoice payment, and purchase order closing)

• Maintain vendor records, i.e.; quotes, savings, and contract administration.
• Promote purchasing processes and programs with end users and drive compliance.

Attributes

• SAP MM / SRM intimate knowledge required
• Ability to maintain effective working relations with user groups and vendors
• Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of the respected clients
• Ability to effectively negotiate
• Knowledge of accounting principles as related to procurement.
• Ability to analyze data, make judgments and develop reports.
• Familiarity with the Lime, cement, gypsum, mining, minerals or related industries preferred

Physical Demands Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
• Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
• Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
• Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 200 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
• Will be working in an office environment, mining, and mineral processing environment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
• The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to travel up to 10% as needed or directed by leadership

Required Education

• Associate’s degree in Business or related field.

Preffered Education

• Associate’s degree in Business or related field.

Required Experience

• 2-5 years.
