Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to puppet prop fabrication using diverse materials and techniques.

  • Execute basic sewing to attach wigs, costumes, and accessories.
  • Assist with painting, distressing, sanding, and priming of props.
  • Safely operate power tools to support fabrication and repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support production goals.
  • Identify and address fabrication challenges with creative solutions.
  • Maintain organized records of processes, materials, and repairs.

As we collaborate with DC Studios/Warner Bros Pictures Animation and Matt Reeves' 6th and Idaho on a revolutionary new project, you'll help bring bold creative visions to life through hands-on artistry and performance. This is your chance to be a part of a production that's equal parts innovative and unforgettable.

Audition Process

You will be asked to submit two videos, the first video will be an introduction about yourself and the second will be the fabricator audition. Follow the steps below to complete your application.

  1. You will need the following tools and equipment: Cardboard or cardstock,Scissors,Duct tape or masking tape,A pencil
  2. If you have them around, you might also want to use:Hobby knife or boxcutter,Ruler,Drawing paper,Hot glue
  3. Watch the instructional video below. We encourage you to watch the instructional video as many times as needed.
  4. Record your puppet prop fabricator audition video. Follow the steps outlined in the instructional video.
    • Please use the 2d sketch of the item in the video as your reference guide for the prop to sculpt for this audition.
  5. Record a video to tell us about yourself. This video should be a brief introduction and should let us know why you're interested in being a part of this project. (30-45 seconds)
  6. Submit your audition. Once you have completed recording your intro and fabricator videos, you will need to upload them to an online hosting site. You will need to provide a link to the videos in your application in addition to a brief performer bio/resume.
    • We recommend using Vimeo or YouTube to host your video -- reference this article for helpful information on how to use Vimeo.
    • If you choose to password protect your video, be sure to include the password on your resume or in your application.
  7. Selected candidates will be contacted for a second, remote-based, audition.

  • Power Tools Operation: Safely operate a variety of power tools and crafting equipment to support fabrication and repair processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members from different departments, offering assistance and filling gaps where needed to support production goals.

Qualifications
  • Experience: All levels of experience welcomed. Prior experience in fabrication or related fields is a bonus.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to pick up new skills and learn in the moment. Previous experience in model-making and construction techniques is a plus.
