Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools, ISD 624, seeks an instructional paraprofessional at Mariner Middle School to support reading interventions for grades 6–8 under the teacher's direction.

The role involves classroom support, promoting conduct, and assisting with basic skills development in a supportive learning environment. Training in essential areas is required on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working with children, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must hold AA/AS degree.
• Completed 60 semester credits.
• Pass MN Parapro test.
• Training in Blood Borne Pathogens upon hire.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 6-12 months upon hire as needed for program.
• Valid driver's license in Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Provide reading interventions in the classroom under teacher direction.
• Work with grades 6–8 to support instructional activities.
• Assist with maintaining appropriate conduct, speech, attire, and related classroom needs.
• Support basic skills and motivate students to develop skills in assigned subjects.

Position Summary

Instructional paraprofessional to help with reading interventions in the classroom at the direction of the teacher. Position will work in grades 6-8 providing these interventions. Performs intermediate human support work providing alternative education and basic skills, instructional services to students in reading, motivating students to develop skill in assigned subject matters while supporting appropriate conduct, speech and attire, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the teacher.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working with children, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Must hold AA/AS degree, completed 60 semester credits, pass MN Parapro test, Training in Blood Borne Pathogens upon hire. Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention within 6-12 months upon hire as needed for program. Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.
