Job summary

Huntington-Steel- is seeking a skilled machine operator to load, operate, unload and change blades on saws, punches and mills. You will read blueprints, measure to 1/32 inch, and work from a predetermined schedule.

This first-shift role requires safety compliance, the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 80 lbs, and perform basic maintenance. Some overtime and Saturdays may be required to meet production needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months minimum experience operating equipment such as saws, vertical mills or ironworkers.
  • Must read blueprints and understand working drawings.
  • Ability to stand long periods and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Must follow safety policies and keep equipment clean and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Load, operate, unload and change blades/tooling on saws, punches and mills.
  • Read blueprints and ensure work within specified tolerances.
  • Perform quality checks and record results.
  • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and due dates.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform basic maintenance.

Description

HOURS:
  • 40 hours/week
  • Monday through Friday; First shift
  • Work flexible hours with overtime, including Saturdays. .

REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor

SUMMARY: Load, Operate, Unload and Change blades/tooling on Saws, Punches and Mill

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must adhere strictly to the Company Safety Policy and the Safety Standards for the Equipment that is being operated
  • Must be able to read, speak & write English and understand blueprints and working drawings
  • Must be able to read a blueprint/drawing and produce work within the specified tolerance
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and safely produce the required work within the time given.
  • Must be willing to clean and lubricate the machines on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Must be able to adjust production equipment/machinery setup to achieve desired quality.
  • Must be able to perform quality checks and record those results
  • Must be able plan and organize assigned work efficiently based on a predetermined schedule and due date
  • Must be flexible and willing to work on the most important task at the time.
  • Must be willing to troubleshoot equipment with on and off-site support
  • Must be willing to perform basic machine maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
  • Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty at a minimum satisfactory level.
  • Individuals must possess the required education/experience, job related characteristics and specialized skills/certifications.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Climbs ladders or works on scaffolds to disassemble structures.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Factory setting; hot and cold temperatures; noisy conditions.
  • Able to lift 80 lbs.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 6 months minimum experience operating equipment such as saws, vertical mills, or Ironworkers
  • Some welding experience is desirable but not required
