Job summary

ALBEMARLE COUNTY SERVICE AUTHORITY seeks a Pump Technician to maintain, repair, install and operate pumps, motors, generators, and related controls at pump stations and tank facilities. The role includes daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and responding to emergencies—nights, weekends, and flexible hours.

Requirements include a High School Diploma with 3–5 years experience, Virginia Class A license, asbestos and safety training, and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years related experience.
Knowledge of repair and maintenance methods for mechanical devices, motors, and electronic instruments.
Knowledge of basic electrical theory and safety (lockout/tagout, confined space, ladder safety).
Virginia Driver's License with Class A combination vehicle and tanker endorsement.
16-Hour Asbestos Worker license.
Confined Space Attendant training with proceeding toward Confined Space Supervisor.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Willing to pursue continuing technical training in SCADA, PLCs, and related systems.

Responsibilities

Perform daily pump station checks and preventative maintenance.
Repair and install pumps, motors, generators, and controls.
Maintain and repair related equipment such as valves, wiring, and transfer switches.
Test and rebuild backflow devices and emergency generators.
Maintain records for vehicle repair and inspection.
Work in confined spaces and at height; wear PPE and follow safety rules.
Assist Facilities Repair Crew and coordinate with Miss Utility tickets.
