Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) invites you to join a team dedicated to safety, reliability and continuous improvement in our Birmingham, AL facilities. This role supports maintenance personnel, ensures efficient production, and helps uphold our safety culture across shifts.

You will troubleshoot issues, perform routine upkeep, and collaborate with Operations to keep equipment running smoothly and meet quality targets.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed.
• Communicate effectively about potential production issues, concerns, and operational needs.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
• Ensure tasks directed by Operations Support Management are completed safely and on time.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties and keep area clean and organized.
• Stay alert to unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and teamwork.
• Work safely at all times by following safety rules, regulations, and PPE requirements.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold safety culture.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without supervision.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting methods and procedures.

• Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• To give relief to any of the overhead crane operators
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures

• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
