Job summary

Health Center Inc. seeks a Pulmonologist to provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and management of respiratory diseases across Queens and Brooklyn locations.

You will collaborate with primary care and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care while promoting prevention and evidence-based treatment. The ideal candidate will hold an MD or DO with a NY license, be board-certified/eligible in Pulmonary Medicine, and have experience with EMR/EHR systems.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution.
  • Current NY medical license in good standing.
  • Board certified or eligible in pulmonary disease.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
  • Completed Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary fellowship.
  • Outpatient pulmonary practice experience is preferred.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage respiratory disorders including asthma and COPD.
  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
  • Interpret PFTs, spirometry, imaging, labs, and ABGs.
  • Develop evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe therapies.
  • Coordinate referrals for advanced testing or inpatient care.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and prevention.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and pharmacists.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and participate in quality programs.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinical protocols.

Position Summary

Health Center Inc. (also known as The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of NYC, Inc Employee Benefit Funds) is a NYC based healthcare organization with ambulatory care facilities staffed with a wide range of health professionals to provide extensive medical and diagnostic services. We offer Primary Care, Dental, Radiological, Vision, Mental Health, and other Specialist services at our facilities at no charge to our Union members (which consist of hotel employees), removing the financial roadblock that many people face when trying to obtain quality medical care. We are looking for a Pulmonologist working out of our Queens and Brooklyn locations to help in our mission of providing top notch medical services to our Union members. It\'s an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to make an impact for under-represented communities and have a stable work schedule (No weekends and no overnights!) The Pulmonologist is responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases. The Pulmonologist works collaboratively with primary care providers and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, value-based patient-centered care while promoting disease prevention, education, and evidence-based treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with respiratory disorders, including but not limited to:
    • Asthma
    • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
    • Chronic cough
    • Pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung diseases
    • Pulmonary nodules
    • Sleep-related breathing disorders
    • Bronchiectasis
    • Respiratory infections
  • Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Interpret diagnostic studies including, but not limited:
    • Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
    • Spirometry
    • Chest imaging
    • Laboratory results
    • Arterial blood gases
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using current evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications, inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and other appropriate treatments.
  • Coordinate referrals for advanced diagnostic testing or inpatient care when clinically indicated.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease management, smoking cessation, medication adherence, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, specialists, respiratory therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, HIPAA standards, and clinical protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and continuing medical education activities.
Education and Experience
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted medical license in the state of New York.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
  • Completion of an accredited Pulmonary Medicine fellowship.
  • Previous outpatient pulmonary practice experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Experience treating adult patients with chronic respiratory diseases.
