Job summary

Inframark is seeking a Public Works Technician to maintain parks, roads and community facilities in Opelika, AL. This is an outdoor role involving equipment operation, physical work, and a focus on safety and quality.

You will perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, debris removal, and basic landscape projects; assist with drainage, signs, and storm cleanup; and support events. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, parks and recreation, construction, or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Experience operating tractors or mowing equipment.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Mow rights-of-way, parks, and other public properties.
• Trim grass, trees, shrubs, and hedges.
• Remove brush, leaves, and debris.
• Plant and care for trees, flowers, and landscaping.
• Repair sidewalks, curbs, and other concrete surfaces.
• Install and maintain traffic and street signs.

Public Works Technician – Grounds Maintenance

What You’ll Do

As a Public Works Technician, you’ll help maintain and improve the community every day by performing a variety of outdoor and maintenance tasks.

Grounds and Landscape Maintenance

• Mow rights-of-way, parks, and other public properties
• Trim grass, trees, shrubs, and hedges
• Remove brush, leaves, and debris
• Plant and care for trees, flowers, and landscaping
• Apply fertilizer and weed control products as directed
• Assist with sodding and other landscape projects

Equipment Operation

• Safely operate equipment such as:
• Tractors with bush hogs
• Lawn mowers
• Weed eaters
• Chippers
• Chain saws
• Backhoes
• Jackhammers
• Leaf collection equipment
• Help maintain and fuel equipment and vehicles

Community and Roadway Maintenance

• Repair sidewalks, curbs, and other concrete surfaces
• Help maintain roads and public facilities
• Clean drainage systems and remove roadway debris
• Install and maintain traffic and street signs
• Assist with fence repairs and minor building maintenance
• Support storm cleanup and emergency response efforts

Community Events

• Help set up and take down equipment for festivals, parades, and public events
• Set up stages, decorations, and event areas
• Assist with cleanup during and after events

What We’re Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, parks and recreation, construction, or a related field
• Experience operating tractors or mowing equipment
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Work Environment

This is an outdoor position that works in all types of weather conditions, including:

• Heat and cold
• Rain and humidity
• Dust and pollen
• Traffic and construction areas
• Emergency and storm response situations

Safety is a top priority, and all work is performed according to company and OSHA safety standards.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position. Candidates must be able to:

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the day
• Regularly lift and carry 50 pounds or more
• Perform heavy physical work
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely
• Work overtime or non-standard hours when needed
