Job summary

The City of Decatur is seeking a Project Engineer to manage civil engineering projects supporting drainage, transportation, and other public works infrastructure. The Project Engineer applies civil engineering principles to municipal systems and uses evolving digital workflows in public works operations.

Qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree, 3+ years of experience, an Engineer-in-Training credential, and a state driver’s license with GDOT LAP certification.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • Three or more years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license for the state of Georgia.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Certification to manage GDOT LAP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, design and implementation of stormwater solutions.
  • Support Public Works through strategic planning and problem solving.
  • Instruct and train drainage crew personnel; monitor work.
  • Evaluate storm drainage infrastructure for capital improvements.
  • Review civil site plans for compliance with city standards.
  • Coordinate with departments, developers and engineers on projects.
