Job summary

Construction Association of Michigan seeks a Public Works Operations Manager to oversee the planning, directing, and management of the Department of Public Works. You will coordinate activities with other departments and outside agencies, provide oversight and supervision to staff, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.

The role requires seven years in municipal water/wastewater operations with five years in supervision, a related bachelor’s degree, and Michigan

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of experience in municipal water and/or wastewater operations with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering or related field; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Michigan S-2 Municipal Water System Operator Certification; ability to obtain S-1 within 2 years; S-1 preferred; valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate department work through staff and evaluate methods to resolve problems.
• Develop and administer department goals, policies, and priorities.
• Participate in staff training, performance evaluations, and employee relations.
• Improve operations, streamline processes, and ensure quality customer service.
• Develop and monitor the department budget; forecast staffing and equipment needs.
