Job summary

Village of Manhattan seeks a Public Works Maintenance Worker to perform a wide range of road, water and facility maintenance tasks under the Public Works Superintendent. The role involves operating heavy equipment and responding to emergencies such as water main breaks and flooding.

Candidates must hold a CDL B with air brake endorsement, be able to lift 50 pounds, and be available during winter months. OSHA training is preferred and on-call duties rotate every 8 weeks.

Qualifications

• High school or GED with ability to read, write and comprehend English and follow instructions.
• Two years maintenance/construction related work experience desired.
• Must be available during winter months without exception.
• OSHA Training.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance at various locations including roadways, facilities, water/wastewater sites, and rights-of-way.
• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, front loaders, and skid steers.
• Assist with asphalt and concrete repairs and roadwork.
• Respond to water main breaks, sanitary backups, and flooding.
• Work independently or in a team and on-call rotate schedule.
