Job summary

The City of Valley seeks a Public Works - Maintenance Team Member to perform concrete repair, mowing, pesticide application, street cleaning, tree maintenance, and basic vehicle upkeep. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least 3 years in related work.

CDL-B must be obtained within 6 months; pesticide licenses are required or obtainable. Work is on City property, with an equal opportunity employer policy.

Qualifications

Title: Public Works - Maintenance Team Member

Salary: $15.00 - $30.00 hourly dependent on qualifications, paid bi-weekly, plus a benefit package. The City of Valley is an equal opportunity employer.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Essential Functions

• Repair concrete pads or small asphalt irregularities.


• Mow and trim various City properties


• Apply restricted use pesticides and fertilizer.


• Clear City streets and roads.


• Maintain trees on City properties.


• Routine maintenance and repairs vehicles and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

• concrete pad replacement.


• and ability tooperate power tools.


• and ability to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs.

Ability to:

• Work outdoors and maintenance/garage working conditions.


• Work in outside and inside environments.


• Use chemicals and cleaning solvents to maintain and repair equipment.


• Communicate effectively with fellow employees, contractors, and the general public both orally and in writing.


• Use email and other basic computer technology.


• Work a regular schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and On-Call every 5th week and snow events as needed.


• Operate or be willing to learn to operate equipment including but not limited to mowers, skid loaders, mini excavators, road graders, lifts, tractors and trucks.

Training, Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited high school.


• Three years of experience in a related field.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required

• Class B CDLdriver's license (If no current Class B CDL license, one must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment.)


• Must possess or obtain the following pesticide applicator licenses:


• Ornamental and turf pest control


• Right of way pest control


• Public health pest control
