Job summary

The Town of Smithfield Department of Public Works is seeking a Laborer/Driver to perform daily labor and driving tasks supporting town roads, drainage, municipal buildings, parks, and other facilities. CDL Class B with air brake endorsement is required, and municipal road maintenance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities include operating trucks and equipment, snow plowing, road and facility maintenance, and safe handling of tools under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Rhode Island CDL Class B with air brake endorsement.
• Experience driving with a Class B CDL and municipal road maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor related to maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, drainage, and municipal properties.
• Safely operate trucks and equipment including dump/plow trucks, street sweepers, and wood chippers.
• Assist with snow plowing, road patching, sign installation, and general facility upkeep.
