Job summary

The Town of Granville is seeking an Operations Coordinator / Highway Department Foreman in Granville, MA. This hands-on supervisory role reports to the DPW Superintendent and focuses on field leadership, crew supervision, and equipment operation, with additional administrative and grant-support duties.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of municipal DPW or heavy civil experience, strong equipment skills, and a valid MA CDL.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; or 3-5 years progressive municipal DPW/heavy civil construction experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years winter plowing/ice control and crew leadership experience.
• Expert heavy equipment operation; strong road maintenance knowledge and plan reading.
• Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, digital recordkeeping, and basic municipal grant tracking.
• Valid MA Class A/B CDL with air brakes, MA Hoisting License, and Medical Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews in road maintenance, drainage, paving, and repairs; operate equipment as needed.
• Enforce safety standards; maintain assets, tools, and fuel inventory.
• Oversee winter operations; monitor conditions and lead snow plowing/de-icing.
• Assist with project tracking, engineering reviews, contractor oversight, and grant docs.
• Handle daily admin such as logs, timesheets, vehicle records, quotes, and inquiries.
