Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for trainee level.
• Knowledge of construction inspection principles and standards.
• Ability to read plans, blueprints and specifications.
• Familiarity with erosion control, stormwater and MS4 requirements.
• Ability to document inspection results and prepare reports.
• FDOT MOT Intermediate certification within 6 months of employment (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Review plans and ensure conformance with City standards and specs.
• Schedule inspections, testing, and walkthroughs with contractors.
• Verify materials meet approved specifications and codes.
• Address construction issues with field staff and public.
• Inspect roadways and stormwater projects for compliance.
• Review right-of-way permits, submittals, and pay requests.
• Monitor ADA compliance and erosion control measures.
• Maintain detailed inspection records and reports (Raken).
• Inspect MS4-related activities and conduct illicit discharge checks.
• Coordinate with Building Department for project close-outs.
