Job summary

The City of San Marcos is seeking a qualified Engineering Inspector to oversee and inspect private land development and capital improvement projects. You will verify grading, street and drainage work, inspect concrete structures, and ensure compliance with plans and contract requirements.

Qualified candidates will have 3–5 years of public works inspection or 5–10 years in related fields, plus a valid driver’s license and QSP certification within 18 months. CalPERS and other benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of approved street construction methods and materials.
• Knowledge of drainage system construction methods and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret public works plans and specifications.
• Experience with traffic control plans and site safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect grading, street and drainage improvements.
• Review construction plans and coordinate with contractors.
• Prepare daily reports, quantity sheets and progress documentation.
• Ensure compliance with plans, specs and contract requirements.
• Coordinate with City consultants and right-of-way activities.
