Job summary

The Town of Greeneville is seeking an experienced Director of Public Works to lead day-to-day operations across municipal solid waste, traffic, and street maintenance, coordinating with other departments and external agencies.

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in civil/construction-related engineering or a related field and a valid Tennessee driver’s license, with substantial high-level leadership experience in public works or utilities.

The Public Works department is currently looking for an experienced Director. This person will direct the day‑to‑day operations of the Public Works department, including planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of the department and its divisions (municipal solid waste, traffic operations, street maintenance), coordinating assigned activities with other Town departments and related outside agencies, and providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager. The Director will also be responsible for determining departmental policies, planning long‑term programs, and making difficult technical decisions.

This position requires a valid TN Driver License, Bachelor's degree in construction related, civil related engineering, or a related field, and substantial high‑level professional experience in public works, utilities, engineering, or any combination of experience, education, or training that demonstrates this person has the leadership competencies necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
