Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District is seeking a Construction Inspector (Civil/Mechanical) to inspect public works projects and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and OC San safety requirements.

The role involves documenting daily construction reports, field tests, change orders, as-built drawings, and coordinating with project management and Operations on inspections, start-ups, and shutdowns.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by coursework in engineering technology, construction inspection, or related field.
• Three years of work experience performing construction inspections on large public works projects.
• A valid California class C Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, ICC, NACE/AMPP, ACIA, ACI, AWS, and APWA certifications.
• Experience documenting inspection activities with CM-based software and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all types and phases of construction within a treatment plant or sewer collection system.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, field test results, change orders, and as-built drawings.
• Attend meetings, assist in start-ups/shutdowns, and witness tests with contractors and Operations staff.
• Provide technical input on change orders, pay estimates, and submittal reviews.
