Job summary

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) invites applications for an Operations and Guidance Service Consultant based in Washington, DC. The role supports the VPS/ESG group by providing practical environmental guidance to project teams from project preparation through supervision, aligning with ESPF and best practices.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in environmental fields, 5–9 years of relevant experience, and fluency in English and Spanish (French/Portuguese helpful).

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in environmental management, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or related field.
• 5–9 years progressive experience in environmental fields; knowledge of ESPF or multilateral development bank policies preferred.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish; knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support VPS/ESG in delivering timely, practical environmental guidance to project teams during preparation and supervision.
• Assist in reviewing key environmental and social documents under Bank policies and provide comments for reviews.
• Support environmental and social risk monitoring and progress reviews across regional projects as needed.
• Prepare mission-related documents and participate in ESPF training and capacity-building activities.
