Job summary

The County of San Mateo's Controller's Office seeks a skilled Disbursements & Financial Reporting Division Manager to lead day-to-day centralized fiscal services, including ACFR and JPFA reporting. You will oversee accounting transactions, prepare complex financial reports, and guide a professional staff in a public agency environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible financial and managerial experience in a large public agency, including at least three years in accounting/financial reporting management.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or related field.
• Knowledge of advanced accounting principles, GAAP, CFR, and government accounting standards.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Organize, direct, and coordinate accounting and financial operational activities.
• Prepare financial analyses, schedules, and reports, including ACFR and JPFA reports.
• Administer and interpret county policies; implement division goals and priorities.
• Review and update changes in governmental accounting standards and GAAP; implement changes to County reports.
• Coordinate year-end closing activities with Controller’s staff and County departments.
• Supervise and support division staff in day-to-day operations.
• Provide timely feedback and performance evaluations for staff and arrange training.
• Coordinate annual audit activities with external auditors.
