Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive to provide specialist legal advice on public procurement and commercial contracts for a 3- to 4-month contract with a local authority.

The role involves drafting, reviewing and negotiating framework agreements, call-off contracts and bespoke documentation, while ensuring compliance with UK procurement legislation and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive with active practising certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on public procurement and commercial contract matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on contractual documentation including framework agreements, call-off contracts, service agreements and bespoke arrangements.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and processes to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Support procurement exercises from inception to contract award, identifying and mitigating legal risks.
  • Draft and negotiate construction and infrastructure contracts under JCT and NEC forms.
  • Advise on Crown Commercial Service frameworks and associated documentation.
  • Provide commercially focused guidance to officers, procurement teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Manage complex contractual disputes, variations, extensions and termination matters as required.
  • Keep up to date with developments in procurement law and changes in regulation.
  • Contribute to development of contract management processes and governance frameworks.

Education

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate
