Job summary

AlphaGov, a public-sector consulting firm, seeks a Public-Sector Compensation Lead / Project Manager to guide classification and compensation studies for cities, counties, school districts, and state agencies. You will manage projects from kickoff to implementation, design surveys, analyze equity, and present findings to Boards and councils.

Remote-first role with occasional client travel; CCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Led or managed multiple public-sector classification and compensation studies for cities, counties, school districts, or state agencies.
• At least one of those studies completed within the last 2 years
• Able to name those public clients and allow AlphaGov to cite them on proposals
• CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or equivalent compensation expertise
• Strong analytical, report-writing, and client presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager and technical lead on public-sector classification and compensation studies from kickoff through implementation
• Lead job analysis, classification structures, and job evaluation using point factor, market pricing, or comparable methods
• Design peer sets and market surveys; analyze internal equity, compression, and pay competitiveness
• Develop salary structures, grade assignments, and phased implementation cost options
• Present findings and recommendations to managers, Boards, Councils, and employee groups
• Contribute project‑manager qualifications, methods, and past‑performance content to AlphaGov proposals
