Job summary

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is seeking a qualified attorney to provide legal representation and counsel for the city and its departments. This role requires a Juris Doctor and offers an exempt position with competitive salary and benefits.

The attorney will perform research, drafting and review of motions, briefs, contracts, and policies; advise departments on legal questions; represent LFUCG in court; prepare legislation; and perform related work as assigned.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• No prior experience required.
• Eligible to practice law in Kentucky, or able to become eligible.

Responsibilities

• Researches, drafts and reviews documents including motions, briefs, contracts and internal policies.
• Advises LFUCG departments and officials on legal questions and concerns.
• Represents LFUCG in court and other legal proceedings.
