Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority is seeking a Manager of Accounting to plan, develop, manage and direct accounting functions, including oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable operations, leading and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes; maintaining the general ledger; performing reconciliations; tracking capital expenditures; and preparing reports and forecasts.

Also responsible for collaborating with other divisions, external agencies and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• CPA certification is required.
• Five years’ experience in accounting with GAAP and GASB familiarity.
• Leadership experience or ability to guide a work group.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead accounting staff to ensure timely, accurate work.
• Assist in year-end audit and annual budget management.
• Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, pension contributions and investments.
• Maintain ledgers, financial reports and fund activity records per GAAP.
• Ensure timely flow of financial data and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain capital expenditure reporting and analysis.
• Develop and implement new procedures to improve workflow.
• Supervise staff and provide training and development.
• Maintain attendance and adhere to policies.
• Collaborate with IT on system design.
