The City of Aurora is seeking an accountant to join the Controller's Office in the Finance Department. You will perform governmental accounting functions, assist in ACFR preparation, respond to auditors, and support month-end closes and internal controls.

This role emphasizes accuracy, timeliness, and collaboration across departments. The position requires an associate degree in accounting and at least 1 year of accounting experience, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree and governmental

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting (or related field).
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Experience with accounting processes and systems.

Responsabilités

• Assist in preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Respond to external auditor inquiries.
• Prepare journal entries, work papers, statements, and schedules for supervisory review.
• Reconcile and analyze fund and account activity.
• Prepare reports and projections for management review.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
• Assist in development of goals, deadlines, and special projects.
• Support accounting system software update testing.
