Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Community Service Officer to support the Aurora Police Department. This role responds to incidents, conducts basic investigations, processes reports, and provides traffic direction. It is a non-armed position requiring good judgment and emotional intelligence.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years in-person customer service, and strong computer skills. Training will be provided with field deployment upon completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of in-person customer service involving problem solving and documentation of incidents.
• Bilingual in any language including English.
• Strong computer skills and experience with computers and applications on a regular basis.
• 1–2 years of experience in law enforcement, loss prevention, internal investigations, or security (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Responds and conducts crash investigations.
• Issues municipal summons (electronic version or handwritten).
• Testifies in court.
• Completes in person or phone generated reports of crime.
• Interviews victims and witnesses.
• Provides support for traffic control and direction.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
