Job summary

King County is seeking a Public Safety Policy Lead Advisor to guide policy direction across the Executive Zahilay’s agenda. You will partner with departments, communities, and criminal legal system partners to translate policy into actionable programs that advance safety and equity.

This role emphasizes collaboration, rigorous policy analysis, and the ability to lead complex initiatives such as alternative response pilots, gun violence prevention, and youth-focused strategies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in policy roles impacting public safety.
• Experience collaborating with criminal legal system partners.
• Ability to translate policy into implementation and programs.
• Experience engaging diverse stakeholders across government and community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Executive Zahilay's broader public safety priorities.
• Lead public safety projects including alternative response and gun violence prevention.
• Coordinate policy development across legal system partners for care and re-entry.
• Build trusted relationships with community organizations and partners.
• Represent the Executive in meetings related to community safety policy.
• Align policy priorities with cross-functional organizational strategy.
