Job summary

Horry County Police Department is seeking an entry-level Patrol Officer to operate under supervision, patrol county areas, respond to calls, and enforce state and local laws. The role involves reporting, crime scene security, and public safety duties in all weather conditions.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), valid SC driver’s license, and successful completion of all required tests and training, including SCCJA Class I certification after hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
• Must pass required pre-employment examinations, interview, physical, background, polygraph and psychological evaluations.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Patrol County areas to enforce state and local laws and provide public safety.
• Respond to calls and emergencies; conduct preliminary investigations and document findings in reports.
• Serve warrants, process crime scenes, and render first aid where necessary.
