Job summary

The City of Columbia SC is seeking a Police Officer to perform general police duties, enforce state and local laws, and support public safety and welfare. You will patrol, respond to emergencies, and assist with investigations while upholding department policies.

Work includes physical activity and occasional lifting, with on-call requirements and training to maintain firearms proficiency. A valid SC driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED are required.

• Ability to gather, organize, analyze, examine or evaluate data or information.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills for community relations.

Responsibilities

• Enforces all federal and state laws and City ordinances relating to public safety and welfare.
• Performs general patrol duties and respond to emergency calls or public calls for assistance.
• Arrests suspects and secures crime scenes; maintains public order and investigates narcotics cases.
