Job summary

The City of Campbell is seeking qualified candidates for Lateral Public Safety Dispatcher. This role handles emergency and routine calls, uses CAD systems, and coordinates with field units. Strong communication under pressure and reliable typing speed are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED; plus
• One year of full-time experience involving public contact, computer usage or heavy telephone traffic.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls promptly and determine emergency needs and location.
• Refer non-emergency callers to the appropriate agency.
• Question emergency callers to elicit information and enter into the CAD system.
• Gather information using multiple audio and visual resources.
• Select emergency units per policy and dispatch accordingly.
• Maintain radio contact and monitor units; ensure channel control and safety.
• Maintain records and logs of incidents and outcomes.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain proficiency.
• Access CAD and enter information in compliance with laws and Department of Justice requirements.
