Job summary

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Public Safety Deputy - Lateral for candidates who already hold Utah POST SFO/LEO certifications and at least one year of experience. The role blends traditional law enforcement with community policing across county facilities and court locations.

Duties include security at government campuses, arresting and transporting detainees as needed, court security, executive protection for officials, and assessing facility vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

• Must hold SFO or LEO certification from Utah POST with at least 1 year of experience.
• Must possess a valid Utah driver's license at time of hire.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• No disqualifying criminal history as per Utah DPS.
• Must be physically, emotionally and mentally fit for peace officer duties.
• Hiring process includes Conditional Offer, background investigations/interviews, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• General law enforcement at government campuses.
• Arresting, transporting, and booking people into a custodial facility as needed.
• Court Security; including bailiff services.
• Executive protection for county council, elected officials, judges, and staff.
• Monitor county infrastructures to ensure safety of citizens, visitors and employees.
• Conduct security assessments of vulnerabilities at county facilities.
