Job summary

King County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Data Technician to handle critical criminal justice data, maintain records on warrants and missing persons, and support field officers with timely, accurate information. The role requires strong data entry and confidentiality, with shifts including nights and overtime.

The position is based in Renton, WA and must be performed in person. Candidates should have prior data-entry experience within public safety and excellent written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Two (or more) years of increasingly responsible professional administrative support or data entry experience
• Knowledge and comprehension of laws, policies, procedures, and associated law enforcement information
• Previous experience in public safety agencies or within the police data information/records management field
• Excellent customer service in high-volume, high-pressure environments
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform multiple tasks with changing priorities and high accuracy
• Proficiency with standard office equipment such as laptops/computers, copiers, and multi-line telephones

Responsibilities

• Provide time critical criminal history information to police officers and criminal justice agencies
• Assure data carried on county, state, national and international systems is complete and up to date by entering, modifying, verifying, and deleting data
• Maintain electronic and paper files on wanted, missing or dangerous persons, stolen property, warrants and court orders
• Assist law enforcement officers in establishing true identity of persons or property by comparing descriptions to on-file records and confirming warrants when applicable
• Protect confidentiality of information and ensure data is provided only to authorized personnel
• Audit and validate all locally entered information for completeness and accuracy
