Job summary

The City of West Hollywood is seeking a diligent, flexible, and community-focused Public Safety Coordinator for its Public Safety Division.

This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing municipal emergency operations and disaster response services, including training personnel and the community in emergency preparedness and service protocols, reviewing and revising policies and plans, acting as a liaison with external agencies to facilitate coordinated emergency action, and managing

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice or related field.
Four to five years of progressively responsible related experience.
Valid California Driver's License.
SEMS/NIMS training and FEMA certifications (must obtain within six months).
Completion of FEMA courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 (must obtain within six months).
Possession of an AEM or CEM certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

Organize and oversee municipal emergency operations.
Coordinate disaster response and emergency management training for personnel and community.
Review and revise policies and plans related to public safety and emergency management.
Liaise with external agencies to facilitate coordinated emergency action.
Manage disaster relief volunteers and related resources.
