Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking a dedicated police support staff member to perform a broad range of non-enforcement field and clerical duties. The role includes traffic control, security patrols of public spaces, data collection, and incident reporting, with duties across patrol and office tasks.

Ideal candidates will hold a TABE score or AA degree, possess a valid driver's license, and complete required training.

Qualifications

TABE completed within past 2 years, with a minimum of 10.0 in all categories.
Associate's degree (AA) required or equivalent.
Driver's license may be required.
Must complete training courses as specified.

Responsibilities

Investigates non-injury vehicle accidents, interviews and prepares routine reports related to the accident; issues citations for non-moving or moving violations resulting in an accident; directs traffic and may appear in court as required.
Patrols and provides security in and around public buildings, parks, property, etc., on an assigned shift.
Checks windows, doors, gates, enclosures, grounds, and other items in an assigned area.
Deters vandalism, loitering, and unauthorized trespassing; ensures facilities are secured and lit.
Notifies authorities in emergencies; makes written reports of inspections and activities.
Transports lost or found individuals or property; assists with crime scene procedures under supervision.
Performs clerical duties such as filing, mail delivery, duplicating, and other tasks; uses telephone communications for citizen calls.
