Maricopa County is seeking a Communications Department Officer to serve as the sole communications officer for the Treasurer’s Department. You will lead communications and marketing efforts, crafting engaging messaging across multiple platforms to support public outreach and departmental initiatives.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, content development, media relations, and cross‑functional collaboration to elevate the department’s communications portfolio.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related communication functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field.
• Postgraduate degrees or professional-level related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates public relations and information programs to advise management.
• Establishes and maintains contact with community groups and county officials for outreach goals.
• Researches and coordinates design of marketing materials for internal and external distribution.
• Communicates technical information to targeted audiences in writing, visuals, and speech.
• Develops and maintains content for departmental social media and websites.
• Writes scripts and presentations for marketing department programs and services.
• Works within budget and monitors expenditures for marketing products.
• Serves as media relations spokesperson or liaison for the department.
• Contacts other agencies regarding departmental services and activities.
