Job summary

BPM-PR Firm in New York City is seeking a Part-Time Public Relations Intern for 6-8 months. The hybrid role offers hands-on agency experience in media relations, writing, and event management, with real client work across multiple industries, including fashion, wellness, technology, and authors.

This internship is ideal for students and early career candidates in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Media Studies.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university (minimum 1 year completed)
  • Previous PR or Marketing experience (preferably within an agency)
  • Previous agency internship experience
  • Experience in press release writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced agency setting
  • Genuine interest in media across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, wellness, technology, and author publicity
  • Ability to commit to 24 to 32 hours per week
  • Immediate availability

Responsibilities

  • Media calling and follow-up with editors, reporters, producers, and bookers
  • Writing and editing media pitches, pitch letters, and media alerts
  • Developing and updating targeted media lists and press contact databases
  • Supporting outreach to national, regional, trade, and online media outlets
  • Assisting with product sample send-outs and editor requests
  • Press release writing and editing
  • Drafting press materials, press kits, and client briefing documents
  • Online PR and social media management, including content support and community monitoring
  • Online research on media outlets, journalists, industry trends, and story angles
  • News clippings, press clips, and coverage tracking
  • Monitoring media coverage and compiling coverage reports and recaps
  • Conducting competitive analysis and brand audits
  • Assisting in planning event details, guest lists, and RSVPs
  • Coordinating and assisting with press conferences, press previews, and media events
  • Supporting on-site event execution, check-in, and media hosting
  • Daily support to management and the account team
  • Learning to manage client accounts and client servicing
  • Assisting with client communications, agendas, and meeting preparations
  • Supporting the organization and execution of marketing campaigns and integrated PR campaigns

Internship Overview

This hybrid public relations internship offers hands-on agency experience in media relations, media outreach, media pitching, media placement, publicity, and event management. Interns work on real client accounts across multiple industries. Campaigns include consumer brands, wellness and health, technology and mobile apps, and authors and experts seeking TV, podcast, print, and digital coverage.

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who want an immersive learning experience. This is an ideal role for students and early career candidates in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, or Advertising.

Key Responsibilities
Media Relations and Pitching
  • Media calling and follow-up with editors, reporters, producers, and bookers
  • Writing and editing media pitches, pitch letters, and media alerts
