Job summary

The Travis County Law Library seeks an attorney with legal aid experience to improve access to justice for Travis County residents. This role supervises the Law Library Reference Services Program and reference librarians while providing direct legal information to the public.

Our patrons are primarily self-represented individuals from lower-income households who come to us needing clear, practical legal information.

Qualifications

• J.D./LL.B. from an accredited law school and three years licensed attorney experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• Preferred: Spanish fluency.
• Experience in legal aid, legal services, or public interest law.
• Strong knowledge of civil and criminal procedures and court rules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Law Library Reference Services Program and librarians.
• Provide direct legal information to the public in person, phone and email.
• Conduct legal research and prepare resources and training for patrons.
• Explain court procedures and filing requirements in plain language.
• Develop outreach, clinics and partnerships with legal aid and community groups.
