Public Information Officer / Dallas District Spokesperson

Key Responsibilities


  • Video storytelling: produce engaging videos that tell the story of our transportation projects.

  • Social media management: keep our social media audience informed and engaged.

  • Customer service professional: respond to inquiries, feedback, and concerns from the public in a timely manner.

  • Content creation: write captivating news releases, stakeholder emails, and newsletters.

  • Community engagement: plan and execute public events and workshops.

  • Crisis management: develop strategic communication plans to handle unexpected situations.

  • Collaborative team player: work closely with coworkers and stakeholders.

  • Graphic design: basic graphic design skills for creating infographics and flyers.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year‑per‑year basis.


Experience:



  • Public Information Officer III – 4 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience.

  • Public Information Officer IV – 5 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience.


Licenses and Certifications


  • Valid driver’s license (this position requires driving a state vehicle).


Preferred Qualifications


  • On‑camera, video production and editing skills.

  • Web writing/UX skills.

  • Knowledge of AP Styleguide.

  • Clear and engaging presentation skills.
