Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technologist I (S) in the Virology/Serology Unit. The role performs routine and reference serology testing of serum and other bodily fluids for antibodies and antigens to various infectious diseases.

Responsibilities include testing under CLIA and QA policies, using STARLIMS, and providing testing consultation to physicians and epidemiologists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution.
• Associate degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory
• Completion of a Certified Laboratory Assistant course or equivalent with three years of medical laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing per SOPs for HIV, Hepatitis, and Rubella.
• Provide testing consultation to physicians, epidemiologists, nurses, and laboratorians.
• Perform instrument QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Work under CLIA regulations and QA policies in a high-volume laboratory.
• Assist lead technologist and back up lead as needed.
