Job summary

County of San Diego is hiring an Assistant Director of Departmental Operations in Public Health Services. The role directs daily operations across multiple PHS divisions, guiding budgets, contracts, personnel, IT, and performance improvement while supervising Deputy Directors.

You will collaborate with executive leadership, engage community partners, drive organizational improvement, and represent PHS to the Board of Supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the classification.
• Experience must include four (4) years of management level experience and at least one (1) year of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across multiple Public Health Services (PHS) divisions.
• Supervise Deputy Directors and support a mission-driven workforce.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and engage community partners.
• Represent PHS to the Board of Supervisors and act on behalf of the PHS Director when needed.
