Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or community health preferred with at least six months of clinical/public health nursing experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Iowa.
• Previous experience in public health preferred.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to public health nursing.
• Multilingual skills preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows and other computer software applications.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with the public and coworkers.
• Willingness for off-hour and/or weekend activities and overtime if needed.
• Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring health status to identify and solve community health problems.
• Conduct client interviews, assessments and screenings.
• Administer immunizations.
• Identify and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community.
• Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.
• Conduct individual and group educational encounters.
• Participate in community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.
• Maintain compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations.
• Link consumers to needed personal health services and coordinate care when unavailable.
• Administer medications and treatments as indicated.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement and innovative health solutions.
• Other duties as assigned.
