The State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services in Augusta seeks a Public Health Inspector I to conduct on-site investigations and inspections of restaurants, schools, and other facilities to protect health and safety.

You will coordinate with other agencies, review license applications, enforce rules, and help develop program procedures. Requires a six-year education/experience mix with two years in related fields; certification after hire is expected.

Qualifications

Six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in public health, environmental or biological science.
Includes two (2) years of public health, biological or environmental science, or related experience.
FDA standardization for food inspections and safety certifications after hire.

Responsabilités

Conduct on-site investigations and inspections for health, safety and sanitary conditions.
Review license applications and enforce program rules and regulations.
Coordinate with agencies to protect public health and safety.
Develop and refine program rules and standard operating procedures.
Monitor correction of violations within a set timeframe.
